Body painting is an ancient art form that has been done on humans around the world for thousands and thousands of years, ever since time immemorial really. However, it is only in the last few years that body painting has begun to be used by brand name, conservative, corporate entities for the purpose of marketing their wares to the masses.
The reason why big and small companies have begun to use body painted models and actors and performers now when they never did before is elementary: a moving, dynamic human billboard gets more attention than a sign, a banner or even a commercial does these days. The other reason why things have changed so drastically in such a short amount of time is because of society’s rapidly shifting attitude towards tattoos and tattooing in general.
